Waipuna Young Parents Development Service
Walking alongside young parents and their Tamariki, supporting confident, connected, capable whānau.
Walking alongside young parents and their tamariki
Young parents face some of the most significant transitions of their lives often without adequate support. Waipuna Youth Services walks alongside young parents from the antenatal period through the early years of parenting, building confidence, connection, and capability that lasts.
Our team provides social work support, parenting and antenatal education, group programmes, community connection and exploration, transitional housing, and practical support across a wide range of needs. We believe every young parent deserves to be seen as capable and worthy of support, not defined by their age or circumstances.
Our services
Wraparound support for young parents from pregnancy through the early parenting years and beyond.
Social work support
One-on-one social work for young parents navigating complex challenges including housing, safety, relationships, and family wellbeing.
Group programmes

YP2B – Antenatal Education
Our 7-week course helps young people feel more confident and prepared for becoming parents, with practical, evidence-based information about birth, babies and early parenting, alongside opportunities to meet and connect with other young parents.
Practical support
Help with access to housing, financial assistance, early childhood education, and other services that young families need.
What it means to be seen
Young parenthood can feel isolating and overwhelming. Consistent, non-judgemental support can make a real difference. At Waipuna, our young parents programme is built on the belief that every young parent has the capacity to thrive, with the right support, relationships and opportunities around them.
