Challenge that changes things.
Challenge-based outdoor programmes that help rangatahi discover what they are capable of.
Challenge-based learning that changes lives
Waipuna has been using the outdoors as a context for learning and growth for over 25 years. Our adventure therapy and experiential learning programmes use challenge, nature, and relationships to help young people discover what they are capable of.
These programmes are not about extreme sport. They are about creating conditions where rangatahi can take real risks, build genuine resilience, and experience the kind of success that stays with them long after the expedition is over.
Our programmes
From secondary schools to reintegration pathways, our experiential learning works across a range of settings.
Adventure therapy
Therapeutic outdoor programmes that use challenge and nature to support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and personal growth.
Secondary school programmes
Challenge-based learning delivered with Canterbury secondary schools for rangatahi at risk of disengaging from education.
Expeditions and events
Coast to Coast, alpine expeditions, and multisport events that push young people in a supported, team-based environment.
Reintegration programmes
Intensive outdoor challenge experiences for rangatahi transitioning from the justice system, building confidence and connection.
When the waves don’t care about cancer
Through our partnership with Canteen, we brought young people living with cancer to the water for a day of surfing, connection, and joy. A story about what happens when you stop defining young people by their diagnosis and start meeting them in their full humanity.
Refer a young person
We work with schools, youth workers, community organisations, and justice sector agencies. Get in touch to discuss a referral to one of our adventure therapy or experiential learning programmes.
