Eliza White Trust: a Canterbury legacy of care
For over a decade, the Eliza White Charitable Trust has been one of Waipuna’s most consistent and trusted funders. Their generous support has enabled us to walk alongside young parents in Canterbury, providing the guidance, connection, and practical help they need at one of life’s most significant turning points.
We are deeply grateful to the Trustees for their confidence in our mahi and their genuine commitment to the wellbeing of disadvantaged young people across Canterbury.
What this partnership has made possible
Eliza White’s support has directly funded Waipuna’s Young Parents Development Service, including the Explorers group, attachment and parenting workshops, and the social work support that young parents and their tamariki depend on.
In FY2025, this partnership enabled us to engage 111 young parents in connection and attachment groups, far exceeding our target. Behind that number are real families building stronger bonds, growing their confidence, and finding their way forward.
About Eliza White Charitable Trust
The Eliza White Charitable Trust was established by bequest in 1909 by Eliza White, born in England in 1841, orphaned at eleven, and arrived in Lyttelton in 1863. Her will directed funds toward disadvantaged children in Canterbury. Today the Trust invests in organisations that uplift, protect, and empower children and youth across Canterbury, South Canterbury, and the West Coast, honouring the compassionate intent of its founder.
