Specialist support for the journey that matters most.
Transitional rehabilitation at the Granada Rehabilitation Centre for people living with spinal cord or brain injury, from early rehab through to living well at home.
Walking alongside you through recovery
Recovery from spinal cord or brain injury is one of the most significant journeys a person and their whānau will ever face. Our specialist rehabilitation team brings expertise in acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, and complex rehabilitation needs.
We work to the person’s goals, not to a standard timetable. Your path to independence is yours to shape. Our job is to walk alongside you.
Our rehabilitation programme is delivered from the Granada Rehabilitation Centre, based at our Halswell site. The purpose-built space includes a spacious rehabilitation gym, quiet single rooms, dedicated living areas, and onsite gardens, with an in-house Allied Health team on hand throughout your stay.
What we offer
Specialist rehabilitation
Inpatient and community-based rehabilitation following spinal cord or brain injury.
Goal-centred planning
Working with each person and their whānau to set meaningful, personalised rehabilitation goals.
Allied health services
Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech language therapy, and nursing care.
Community reintegration
Support to return to community life, meaningful activity, and connection.
A whole-person approach to rehabilitation
We take a Te Whare Tapa Whā approach to rehabilitation. Taha tinana, taha hinengaro, taha wairua, taha whānau. Recovery is not only physical, it is emotional, social, and spiritual.
Our rehabilitation gym at the Granada Rehabilitation Centre is purpose-built for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and functional recovery, backed by an in-house Allied Health team. Since July 2026, this has included a dedicated Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) unit, giving Canterbury families access to specialist neurorehabilitation close to home.
The Granada Rehabilitation Centre offers quiet single rooms, dedicated living spaces, and onsite gardens within our wider 60-room Halswell site. Unlike our permanent Residential Care service, a stay at Granada is transitional: rehabilitation is goal-focused, working towards discharge home or into community-based supports.
