Enabling Good Lives: Wellington stories
At our Northern Services residences in Karori and Clouston Park, Wellington, adults living with disability don’t just receive care. They build lives full of connection, creativity and joy.
Our team supports more than 100 residents across the two sites. Each person brings their own story, their own gifts, and their own vision of what a good life looks like. Some are rediscovering a love of music. Others are painting for the first time. Many are simply enjoying the kind of community outings and shared celebrations that most of us take for granted.
What makes a good life?
It’s not simply a question of having care needs met. It’s about belonging somewhere, contributing something, and being known by the people around you.
At St John of God Hauora Trust Northern Services, we believe every person living with disability deserves exactly that. Our Enabling Good Lives campaign raises funds that go directly to the experiences that make daily life meaningful: art classes, music sessions, community outings, and celebrations that bring residents, their whanau, and our team together.
A $10 difference
A $10 contribution could support a person living with disability to have a great day. That might mean an afternoon at the Wellington Botanic Garden, materials for a painting session, or a shared meal with people they love. These are not extras. For people who face significant barriers to social participation, they are the foundations of wellbeing.
Larger gifts make even more possible. $50 could fund a whole morning of shared music. $100 could bring a group of residents to a local event they have been looking forward to for weeks.
Why now?
Residential disability services are funded to deliver care. Activities that go beyond the basics of daily living, and the funding to make them happen, rely heavily on the generosity of people who believe every life should be a good one.
Your donation to the Enabling Good Lives campaign supports the residents of our Karori and Clouston Park services to live fully, participate actively, and thrive as part of the Wellington community.
