Support Worker Part-time, Halswell, Canterbury

St John of God Halswell supports people living with a disability to lead engaging and fulfilling lives. Our 60-room residential care facility is situated in attractive grounds with award-winning gardens. We are looking for experienced Support Workers for new afternoon shifts.

About the role

This position combines healthcare support with daily living assistance in a warm, collaborative environment. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse you will support and assist residents to lead engaging and fulfilling lives. Key responsibilities include personal care and hygiene, supporting mobility and safe use of equipment for transfers, following care plans that enable residents in their health and wellbeing, maintaining accurate electronic health records, and working collaboratively with the Activities and Rehabilitation Team.

About you

The ideal person is interested in supporting people and has good communication skills. We highly prefer caregiving experience (2+ years), experience supporting people living with conditions such as Huntington’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke or brain injuries, and a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing at any level.
