Poppi Hamilton

Social Worker

I grew up on a farm in a small community, which shapes the way I work and influenced my view on the importance of community connections. Having always loved working with people, I was led to the social work degree and never looked back. I am passionate about connecting with people and walking alongside them to support them in whatever way that looks like.

I work with young parents, walking alongside them in their parenting journey. A big part of my role is setting goals and scaffolding the support to ensure that young parents have everything they need to work towards these in a way that feels natural and achievable to them.

I work in a client-led manner, making sure we are moving at a pace that feels comfortable. This might include working with the whole whanau, working one-on-one, with a couple, or whatever feels right to my clients and their values. Outside of work, I am a netball lover. I both play and coach in New Brighton, and my Y8 team is one of the highlights of my year. I also love reading and taking my dog for walks through Bottlelake Forest or the beach.
