Kath is originally from the Horowhenua and Wellington region, where much of her extended family still lives. She has been based in Christchurch for many years and feels deeply connected to the communities Waipuna serves here. She came to this work through a strong belief that rangatahi deserve better than a system that gives up on them.
As General Manager of Waipuna Youth Services, Kath oversees all of the service areas, from young parents and health and wellbeing through to reintegration, early childhood, and community development. Her role is to support the teams to do their best work and to make sure the services remain grounded in the values that brought them here.
Kath leads with curiosity and a genuine belief in people’s potential. She is most energised when she sees the kaimahi growing and the rangatahi thriving.
