Doreen arrived in Christchurch in 2010, invited by her sister-in-law to start a new chapter in New Zealand. Her sister-in-law’s passing in the 2011 earthquake was a defining moment that shaped Doreen’s resilience and her commitment to caring for others.
As Nurse Manager, Doreen works alongside the nurses and support workers to care for residents at the Halswell home, supporting people with a wide range of health and support needs. She helps oversee the home, working with residents and staff to keep it safe, caring, and positive.
Doreen is approachable and enjoys being part of a team, and she values honesty, so she will always be direct when it matters. She stays calm under pressure and tries to bring a positive outlook to her work each day.
