Community backs Tiny Home project
Two Christchurch businesses have generously stepped up to support the deck of the Accessible Tiny Home Project, gifting materials and installation to the community build.
One Stop Deck Shop has provided outstanding support on the decking materials, and Paddy Coughlan of Coughlan Homes has offered to install the deck free of charge. We are deeply grateful to both businesses for their generosity.
The Accessible Tiny Home Project is a partnership between St John of God Hauora Trust and the Halswell Menzshed. The tiny home will showcase accessible design features and assistive technology to support people living with disabilities and those recovering from traumatic brain injuries, providing a practical, hands-on resource for families, carers, and health professionals across Canterbury.
Mark Anderson, Facilities Services Manager at St John of God Hauora Trust, said the response from the local business community has been humbling.
‘This deck is more than a structural feature. It is part of showing that accessible design can be beautiful, practical, and achievable in a real home. To have businesses like One Stop Deck Shop and Coughlan Homes step up and make this happen is extraordinary. We are very grateful.’
The project continues to welcome community support. To find out more or to enquire about contributing, visit accessibletinyhomeprojectnz.com.
