Our 2025 performance report: measuring what matters

Our 2025 performance report covers the mahi of Hauora Ability Services and Waipuna Youth Services across the year: the people we supported, the outcomes we worked towards, and how we held ourselves to account.

Each year, St John of God Hauora Trust publishes a performance report covering the work of Hauora Ability Services and Waipuna Youth Services. It is how we hold ourselves to account to the people we serve, our funders, and our community.

The 2025 report covers the financial year ending 31 March 2025. Here are some of the things it tells us.

Supporting people to live well
Hauora Ability Services supported 110 people living with disability through residential care across Canterbury and Wellington. A further 33 people received transitional rehabilitation services, supporting recovery from spinal cord and brain injury.

Our teams supported people to stay connected to their communities throughout the year. There were 1,372 supported community activity attendances, alongside 9,682 participations in in-house group activity programmes. Our kaimahi also provided 857 nights of respite care for people and their whānau.

Young people and whānau
Our youth mental health counselling service recorded 4,105 contacts with young people, up from 3,176 the previous year. A further 69 young people engaged in therapy groups.

Our Young Parent Support programme had a strong year. 111 parents engaged in our attachment, parenting, and connection groups, more than double our target. A further 40 young parents received social work support through Oranga Tamariki funding.

119 young people participated in our secondary school experiential learning programme, exceeding our target of 85, and 40 rangatahi were supported through our Tūmanako prosocial mentoring programme.

Our community of volunteers
Volunteers contributed 2,172 hours across 991 shifts during the year, exceeding our target of 2,000 hours. Every one of those hours represents a connection, an outing, or simply someone choosing to show up for another person.
